XPost: alt.global-warming              All AUS states have closed their borders to travellers from Victoria       and esp Melbourne. To drive across the boarder from rural Victoria       into NSW requires filling out a govt permit and having a valid reason       to visit the state. People who lie on what is virtually a statutory       declaration are subject to stiff penalties. Unlike NY, stiff       penalties in Australia are carried out. NSW has announced people who       lie about having been in Melbourne when they arrive are subject to 6m       in jail and/or a $1600 fine.              So it is with interest news outlets reported the first case of someone       trying to cross into NSW with a phony permit. He was arrested on the       spot and has made a first appearance in a rural court.              Declining a state-provided lawyer, an act usu associated with the most       totally stable of geniuses, the defendant told the judge the virus was       all a big fat hoax. He then started a lecture series on how the       Australian Constitution does not permit the closure of borders anyway.              The judge apparently smothered a smile in between yawns and held the       fellow over for a day or 2 before sentencing. Maybe making some time       to go out back of the courthouse and do some tuneup work on his       book-pitching arm.              --       Upcoming events:       13 Jul 2020 June Global Release NOAA SOTC       07 Oct 2020 2020Q3 Billion Dollar Disasters NOAA              A man may fail many times but he isn't a failure until he begins to blame       someone else.       -- J.
