Warm US: tornado count on track to be 2x

With SST off the US E coast more than 1.5C above 1980s avgs and a La Nina
now threatening as the tropical E Pac takes a dive the US local
climate has reacted by throwing up a few more tornadoes that normal
   for August.

As some mets and storm chasers have quipped in the past couple weeks --
   August is the new May.

The "P.R." line estimates the month total pro rate i.e. multiplying
the Aug 1-16 totals by (30/16). Note how the "Actual" count for the
month for 2019 and 2011 are "close" to this estimate. We might assume
that the "211" estimated for this month might also be close to the
   actual count.

All numbers are subject to revision. It's likely some of the 2020
numbers will go up. The 2019 and 2011 may go up or down as data is
   reviewed.

I like yo use 2011 as a reference case these days. It was "the"
superoutbreak year that saw $11 bn in tornado damage in the Apr
barrage that saw 360 confirmed storms.
