   I think the early modeling showed it was a crap shoot when it got   
   to C Am whether it would continue west or maybe turn north.   
   At some point the NHC was down-playing the prospect of north.   
   But it slowed down a lot as it approached land and at some critical   
   point I think a big trough developed over the Gulf that steered it north.   
   Met on twitter were saying it was hard to pick at various points   
   whether Eta was trapped in or had become part of a gyre and/or whether it   
   was Eta that emerged or the remnants formed up into Theta.
