XPost: alt.global-warming              Now that HadCRUT has updated to the end of Nov we can run through the       main data series to see their jan-nov averages for 2020 and how       they're tracking with data from (in some cases) the 1850s.              The following table shows the series codename, type type of data,       rank, value and number of months of 2020 counted to date.              Most series are temp anomalies relative to averages over a 30y base       period. Most base periods centre on approx 1980s so you can think of       them as being "roughly 1980s averages". The NASA GISTEMP series       unusually center on the 1960s because 1950 was the original baseline       for geographical measurements way back when.              Temp anomalies are generally measured in deg C relative to the       baseline but GISTEMP, again unusually, is represented an in "index"       (integer) and is 1/100th C relative to the GISTEMP baseline.              Ice extents are in mns of km2; ice volumes in 1000s of km3.              Ranks generally order maxima as #1; ice volumes and areas rank #1 as       the minimum value on those records.              Codename generally include NH or nh to indicate they apply only to the       northern hemisphere. Similarly for SH/sh.              UAH and RSS temps below refer to the lower trop. In the case of RSS       that's a region from 2-10 km above mean sea level. UAH is tuned to the       region 3-10 km above MSL.              On the basis of the Jan-Nov averages 9 out of the 22 series judge 2020       to be the warmest year on record from the start of the series. In the       case of the SST series this is 1850.              A further 6 series judge 2020 to be the 2nd warmest since the series began.                     Series/type Rank Value Num Months       cru4krig.anom 1 1.4049 10       nhtsdsst.anom 1 137.5 11       hadcrut4nh.anom 1 1.1434 11       glbtsdsst.anom 1 104.0 11       aravgNH.anom 1 1.0387 11       hadsst_nh.anom 1 0.8534 10       rsstlt4.anom 1 0.8247 8       aravg.anom 1 0.6899 11       jma.anom 1 0.4609 11       had4krig.anom 2 0.8601 10       hadcrut4.anom 2 0.7925 11       hadsst.anom 2 0.6071 10       uah_globe6NH.anom 2 0.5936 11       uah_globe6.anom 2 0.5145 11       uah_globe6SH.anom 2 0.4336 11       shtsdsst.anom 3 70.3 11       aravgSH.anom 4 0.3210 11       piomas.vol 5 13.6847 11       seaice.extent 5 10.8191 22       hadcrut4sh.anom 5 0.4431 11       hadsst_sh.anom 6 0.3834 10              --       Survey Finds 30% Of L.A.
