XPost: alt.global-warming              *Satellite and ocean data reveal marked increase in Earth's heating rate              Geophysical Research Letters via Carbon Brief              New research finds that the Earth's energy imbalance - the difference       between solar radiation absorbed by the planet and thermal radiation       emitted to space - increased by 0.5 Watts per square metre per decade       between 2005 and 2009. The authors compare satellite measurements of       total energy absorbed by the Earth with in-situ measurements to       determine heating of the ocean, land and atmosphere, and melting of       snow and ice. They find that these 2 independent approaches yield       very similar results. The study finds that the change in energy       imbalance is due to a decrease in energy reflected into space by       clouds and sea ice, as well as an increase in greenhouse gases and       water vapour.              --       Upcoming events:       9 Jul 2021 NOAA bn Dollar Disasters Q2              [Butterflies:]       Ronaldo's Coke snub wipes bns off drink company's market value       ABC News, 16 Jun 2021 06:35Z       Cristiano Ronaldo's decision remove 2 Coke bottles from his Euro 2020       press conference table and drink water instead wipes bns of dollars off       the beverage company's value.              [Australia is not America:]       Think tank behind conservative conference loses High Court bid against       Australia's foreign influence laws       ABC News, 16 Jun 2021 07:34Z       A conservative think tank challenged Australia's foreign influence laws in       the High Court, claiming it was at odds with freedom of speech.
