NASA Realtime has updated its estimate of avg seaice extent to the end
   of Aug 2021.

It finds Arctic extent averaged around 5.75 mn km2 10th-lowest since
   sat measurements began in 1979.

In line with increasing ice loss and coastal storms in the Antarctic,
S extent has blown out to 18.13 mn km2

Total for the planet was 23.88 mn km2, scoring 12th lowest for the month.

The YTD for 2021 is just over 22 mn km2, ranking 5th-lowest for the period.
