   my point was... if  x=[] or [1],   
               x[1] raises and Error    and        x[1:]   does not.   
      
      
      
   yes.. THey seem diff. when you put it like that.... but   
      
      
   Consider:   
               USPres[44]    is  Trump   
               USPres[44:]   is  Trump plus all subsequent Presidents   
      
   then when the List is too short,  both should (or should not)  raise an   
   Error. (it seems)
