   I don't know when exactly it was coined, but "REPL" meaning   
   "read-evaluate-print loop" goes back at least 30 years to the late   
   80's.   
      
   I first heard it in connection to Lisp, but it was clear even then   
   that Scheme was using the same lexicon.
