|    World Post Day (9 October)    |

From: benlizro@ihug.co.nz              The General (later Universal) Postal Union was founded on 9 October 1874       in Bern. In 1948 it became an agency of the United Nations. At its 1969       congress in Tokyo, World Post Day was inaugurated.              I am fond of the world postal system; I hope I don't live to see it       collapse. I guess I should celebrate by sending a postcard.              But the language relevance? Crystal talks about a UPU-sponsored       letter-writing competition. He talks about changing epistolary conventions.       (yawn)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
