   Its because sometimes we see or hear or otherwise experience something   
   we like and sometimes something we don't like, and we want to know   
   what to do in order in exprerience more often what we like and less   
   often, or even never, what we don't like. And we have reasons to   
   believe that better understanding of reality improves our ability   
   to know (or at least to guess) that.
