It was an insanely dangerous endevour to actually do that, because most
if not all enemies of the Nazi party were killed.

Actually 'Nazi' was the 'nickname' of the members of the
national-socialist party of Germany in the years 1923 to 1945.

The real name of that party was 'national socialist workers party of
Germany' (in German: NSDAP or 'Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiter
   Partei).

But the term 'nazi' is now widely used for all sorts or right winged
movements, even if they are not national and/or socialistic.

Whether you regard nazis as enemies or not depends upon your own
   political orientation.
