   employed terrorism, and their tactics contributed to the success of the   
   struggle to establish a Jewish state. I would argue that terrorism is a   
   reasonable tactic in the struggle of an insurgent nationalist group to   
   oust a colonial occupier—IF that struggle has at least a chance of   
   success. It hasn’t worked for the Palestinians (except perhaps for some   
   who make their living from it). Palestinian terrorism has made life   
   miserable for a lot of people, especially their own people, and   
   accomplished nothing. Having failed, it is no longer a reasonable   
   tactic. Moreover, Israelis are not a colonial occupier. Unlike the   
   British in Palestine (and India, or the French in Algeria and Indochina,   
   the Belgians in Congo, the Portuguese in Angola, etc.) the Jews are not   
   a foreign power who conquered and exploited a foreign country. They were   
   an oppressed minority who wanted to establish a Jewish state in their   
   ancestral homeland. Having fulfilled that dream—through generations of   
   struggle, suffering, and work—they cannot just go back to their own   
   country. Israel is their own country.
