   Well, there's where you went wrong, fool. The *correct* quote reads "....to   
   provide for the common Defence, TO PROMOTE the general Welfare, and to secure   
   the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity ..."   
      
   The federal government is NOT required to *provide* the general Welfare but to   
   *promote* the general Welfare. There's a world of difference.   
      
   Go ye therefore and teach all nations, vote Democrat no more.
