   is like.  I've chosen plenty of other places lately.

   At that time I was enjoying visiting field sites in the German countryside,   
   which is quite pleasant IF you pass the driving test and speak their   
   language; English was common only in cities. Otherwise few of us liked it,   
   and being dismissed or ignored as non English speakers are in the US.
