By the way, Uncle Sam's definition of a WMD can now range between a
pressure cooker filled with nails, to sarin gas, to nukes.

The rap of possession and deployment of a WMD in the form of a
Pressure cooker is on Dzhokhar Tzarnaev now while the rap on Saddam's
Iraq was nukes ten years ago. What's next?

But in the mean time, it will be sarin gas for Assad's Syria. The
neocons can't wait already. "Obama, what are you waiting for? You
promised us that when that redline you yourself defined is crossed,
you would take action and now is the time ..."

Sarin, according to my online Oxford: an organophosphorus nerve gas,
developed in Germany during World War II. (word origin: German with
   unknown origin.)

Maybe so, maybe so... But I rather doubt it.

Yes, Danny certainly saved his own life.

At least he is alive today and will be driving another rented Mercedes
   soon, if not already.

But it remains entirely speculative whether he had to tell all those
lies in order to remain alive.

But the argument that one does anything to save his or her life is an
   easy one to make.

But it is the damage I perceive he has seemingly created for the
Chinese community in America that is more significant.

I think when people start picking up the stereotypical view that
Chinese are sneaky and scheming - no matter how unjustifiable the
generalization is - there will likely be many innocent victims on the
streets (just because people don't like your kind).

When I walk down the street, I feel safe among my American brothers
because I feel they can trust me. I feel they can trust me because I
have been forthright and earned their trust. Now I no longer feel
safe because they are getting the impression the Chinese are really
sneaky and lie through their teeth when it serves them to do so.

Danny might have saved himself. But he might have hurt many more who
   look like him.

As for the speculation about potential victims in NYC, read on for my
   comments.

Even as Danny was quoted as saying that the brothers freely talked
about New York, there was no supporting evidence in the BG interview
to bear this out. Where there were some details about a possible
thwarted plan to go to New York, it reads like this:

With Tamerlan driving now, Danny in the passenger seat, and Dzhokhar
behind Danny, they stopped in Watertown Center so Dzhokhar could
withdraw money from the Bank of America ATM using Danny's
card. Danny, shivering from fear but claiming to be cold, asked for
his jacket. Guarded by just one brother, Danny wondered if this was
his chance, but he saw around him only locked storefronts. A police
     car drove by, lights off.

Tamerlan agreed to retrieve Danny's jacket from the back seat. Danny
unbuckled, put on the jacket, then tried to buckle the seatbelt
behind him to make an escape easier. "Don't do that," Tamerlan
said, studying him. "Don't be stupid."

Danny thought about his burgeoning startup and about a girl he
secretly liked in New York. "I think, `Oh my god, I have no chance
to meet you again,'" he recalled.

Dzhokhar was back now. "We both have guns," Tamerlan said, though
Danny had not seen a second weapon.

He overheard them speak in a foreign language -- "Manhattan" the
only intelligible word to him -- and then ask in English if Danny's
car could be driven out of state. "What do you mean?" Danny said,
confused. "Like New York," one of the brothers said.

So, a) Danny never heard any plan. And the only word he heard in a
foreign language he had no comprehension whatsoever, was something
that sounded like "Manhattan". He might have heard something else he
confused himself to be "Manhattan" - which was quite possible under
the circumstance when he was in fear and confusion and was speculating
   what would be next.

And b) Danny never saw another gun. He only saw the one that the
   older brother had.

Finally, c) Danny never mentioned seeing either the first suspect or
the second brought into his white Mercedes loads of anything, not to
mention weapons. IEDs using pressure cookers are bulky to carry it,
   you know!

And on top of that, the brothers apparently were apparently too clumsy
and unknowledgeable to carry out a second act, or an encore if you
will, when everyone was on the lookout for them, not to mention the
   world's best-funded, best-prioritized, and best equipped law
enforcement organizations. They were hopelessly clueless since they
were asking a guy who professed to have been in the United States for
only one year the question of whether you are required to have a
permit to travel across state lines. (They didn't even know that you
do not yet need a permit to cross state lines in America.)

Any success in the kind of crimes they committed or were thinking of
committing heavily relied on the element of surprise. So, the death
toll at the Boston Marathon is by all standards rather unimpressive,
although no individual would want to be even a statistic. And they
reportedly spent less than 100 dollars to rig up their low-tech IEDs.

Now the whole US law enforcement structure was directed into the
Northeast to hunt them done. On top of that, New York under Mayor
Bloomberg was ready for anything since 9/11, not mention the fact that
Boston was a short distance from it. So the suggestion that Danny
could have saved many lives in New York's Time Squares is something I
   must respectfully refuse to accept.

Subject: Chinese are _very_ friendly to Muslims. True or false?

"Chinese are very friendly to Muslims!" Danny said. "We are so
   friendly to Muslims."

Holy cow! I've never met such a crafty Chinese yet. Uncle Sam needs
   Danny, hooray!

Honesty is at the fore and core of Islamic teaching.

So we learned that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev freely answered all the FBI
questions (at least for the first 16 hours). In particular, he told
them that they were influenced by al Awlaki and decided to act as a
response to the Afghan War and Iraq War.
