   >Pfft.

"Pfft" is not proof that RT "lies everyday". Nor is the fact that a
Ms. Firth has resigned from RT.

If it were, then we should stop tuning into CBS News:

investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson resigned Monday after
months of ill-concealed unhappiness with the network. It was the
denouement of a drama that's been played out among The Reporters Who
Cover Television for some time, with Attkisson as the heroine ...
[a] reporter who stood up to her network's liberal bias and its
deep-sixing of her work on Benghazi and other Obama administration
evasions and departs after acrimonious contract talks fell apart, ...

And then there were Phil Donahue and Jeff Cohen who were actually
forced out of MSNBC on the eve of the Iraq war because of their honest
reporting. In other words, those guys refused to sell Washington's
   war lie:

"Saddam had WMD and so we must invade Iraq."

In this light, their treatment speaks volumes more than Ms. Firth's
   resignation.

Sure, "RT was founded specifically to enhance the image of Russia"
just as the Peace Corp was founded to enhance America's image while
snooping around the globe at the same time. We were brilliant and
Russia has finally learned that propaganda is an important tool for
them too. But that is not the point.

The point is whether RT has been lying and made Ms. Firth to lie!

I haven't found that to be the case because I have been following RT
as well as many other news sources around the world. RT might have
been quiet about some things just as the NYT has been quiet about some
other things. I have found the NYT extremely biased about the Ukraine
situation for at least the past year. And I have found the BBC to
have increasingly editorialized its reporting, trying to portray the
freedom fighters as drunks and criminals. And these sources don't
like to report the suffering of the Russian speaking Ukrainians.

Ms. Firth might have resigned precisely because someone has approached
her and told her that what she was doing, working for RT, was not cool
   - acting against Washington's narrative. It's not cool for her to
spread the words about Kiev's possible culpability at this critical
time when we can just wipe out the freedom fighters in one fell
   swoop. ...

The timing of Ms. Firth's resignation on ground that RT wanted to
expose the possible direct involvement of the MH17 tragedy is not
surprising to me. Washington does not want the world to hear that
anyone other than Russia and the freedom fighters in east Ukraine
might have pulled a bloody stunt, involving so many innocent people.

So, Firth's resignation from RT does not prove RT was lying everyday
like she alleged. RT is a good news source, Ms. Firth hasn't done a
bit to change people's minds who read RT and are able to decide for
   themselves what they are reading.

Now is, however, a time before there is a credible investigative body
to decide how the MH17 came down. So, Ms. Firth's allegation that RT
was lying is totally unfounded. First, it was information from the
Russian Defense Ministry. Somehow she made it to be a RT lie about
   MH17.

My assessment is that Firth's resignation was a result of Washington
not wanting people to hear anything bad about its stooges in Kiev.

I have repeatedly mentioned that people who read widely, including
from sources such as OpNewsEd, Paul Craig Roberts, Center for Research
on Globalization, as well as the BBC News, CNN, RT, and the New York
Times, are aware that Washington has a narrative and it has propaganda
tools to shoot the messengers to stop alternative narratives from
going out or propagating. This Firth resignation thing might very
well be that sort of thing.

This is so lame. Of course RT is financially backed by Kremlin, just
as the BBC News is backed by the British government and just as the
US Corp media is beholdened to Washington's political establishment.

And the subject of RT in particular has been discussed recently and
not so recently by me and others. The main point is whenever RT is
providing news that is not covered by the West's mainstream media and
if the veracity of the news is unassailable, then it is providing a
great service to humanity, especially because there is so much
deception coming out of the news from the West's media outlets. The
case of Edward Snowden as well as the situation in Ukraine illustrate
very well the great service RT provides. If anyone has any gripe
against a specific act of disinformation from RT, we would have
already seen it. I have successfully defended my use of RT as a
source for what I posted in the past. Another poster ltlee1 once
followed up a criticism from TT, a Finnish poster at rec.sport.tennis,
that I used RT as source by asking him to state specifically what he
finds wrong in the information cited and there was no response from
   anyone that I know of.

Personally, I prefer to use other sources whenever possible because I
can save myself troubles to have to defend it.

In the case of Sarah Firth, I don't find her credible.

   Her latest gripe is:

Sara Firth, who has worked for the state-backed TV network since
2009, said station management suggested Ukraine was at fault for the
