XPost: soc.culture.china, soc.culture.usa, soc.culture.russian       XPost: rec.sport.tennis, soc.culture.latin-america, soc.culture.iraq       XPost: soc.culture.palestine       From: acoustic@panix.com              Mr. Poroshenko, speaking at a joint news conference with Mr. Barroso,       said Ukraine still hoped for a political settlement with Russian-backed       rebels in the east of his country but said a flow of Russian troops and       armored vehicles into Ukraine in recent days in support of rebels were       stoking the fires of a broader conflict.              What a lie! Who is he trying to fool?              1) Poroshenko has steafdastly refused to sit down face-to-face with       the rebels on the pretext that his representatives do not negotiate       with terrorists.              2) Poroshenko had vowed to seek a total military victory for a Ukraine       of "unity and territorial integrity" before the rebels launched their       counter-offsensive. That does not sound like it has a place for a       "political settlement" with the Russian-backed rebels in the east of       his country.              3) Poroshenko dissolved Ukraine's parliament the day after Ukraine's       Independence Day, saying the rapid social and political development in       the country needed a new parliament to reflect the citizens' view       today. That sounds like his ATO in eastern Ukraine was actually a       campaign of ethnic cleansing in disguise. Poroshenko's political       action goes directly against the grievances of the eastern rebellion.       That again does not sound like it has a place for a "political       settlement" with the Russian-backed rebels in the east of his country.              4) Poroshenko had asked the parliament to approve his plan for a       "three-billion dollar" increase in military spending for Ukraine for       the next two years. That again does not sound like it has a place for       a "political settlement" with the Russian-backed rebels in the east of       his country. Poroshenko clearly has been seeking a total victory over       the rebels!              5) And Porosenko had also planned a grand military parade to celebrate       Ukraine's Independence Day (August 24th) because he was counting on       recapturing Donetsk and Lugansk by that time - so much so that instead       of sending the tanks and APCs to the war zone, he kept them in Kiev       for the parade, drawing a lot of criticism from the nationalists.              And because of his zeal to win a total victory - thus contradicting       directly his latest claim that he "still hoped for a political       settlement" with the Russian-backed rebels - he bombed the cities in       east Ukraine with greater and greater intensity as the date of August       24th approached, resulting in dozens of civilian deaths a day in those       last days before Poroshenko's latest "turning point".              A legitimate question might be: how long will the West continue to       back such a liar despite his self-inflicting failure to lead his       country out of war and into peace and prosperity?              lo yeeOn              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
