|    "Results" for whom? Joshua Wong was quot    |

XPost: soc.culture.china, soc.culture.usa, soc.culture.latin-america       XPost: soc.culture.iraq, soc.culture.indian, soc.culture.african       XPost: rec.sport.tennis       From: acoustic@panix.com              Apart from some sensational charges against the police, Joshua Wong       reportedly "defiantly told" other protesters "to persevere".               "What we're fighting for are results," Wong said, "not retreat."              My question is "results" for whom? It sounds like Wong is calling his       troopers to help him do someone else's bidding. It sounds like       someone influential has been whispering into his ears, saying: "Now,       Joshua, whatever you do, you need results... you need to keep fighting       if you want results!"              (It is easy to see that the likes of Wong are not concerned about the       security of 1.2 billion Chinese people when they insist on the right       to field a candidate for the Chief Executive's office who is hostile       to China! So China's interpretation of the basic law regarding HK's       extent of self-governance is more than reasonable when "one-country       two-systems" means the security of the country must come before the       will of the voting "majority" of a local system.)              Under the circumstance, does Joshua think that the three-month-old       strike he's been in has to end in Beijing kowtowing to emperor Wong?              This little Bolshevik needs to know that even some of the greatest       revolutionaries in history such as Mao had to retreat! Mao and his       comrades spent more than a year running for their lives. And       ultimately their now world-famous Long March turned their fortune       around!               The Communists, under the eventual command of Mao Zedong and Zhou        Enlai, escaped in a circling retreat to the west and north, which        reportedly traversed over 9,000 kilometers (6,000 miles) over 370        days. The route passed through some of the most difficult terrain        of western China by traveling west, then north, to Shaanxi.               The Long March began Mao Zedong's ascent to power, whose leadership        during the retreat gained him the support of the members of the        party. The bitter struggles of the Long March, which was completed        by only about one-tenth of the force that left Jiangxi, would come        to represent a significant episode in the history of the CPC. (wiki)              The revolution was a long suffering, with huge sacrifice!              When over 83% Hk'ers want them to head home, Joshua said defiantly he       just wasn't ready to quit yet. And he blamed those who broke into the       Legislative Council building for hurting the caus. And yet, Joshua       and his fellow student leaders are now said to be plotting to call on       the protesters to take over government buildings, after they have been       evicted from the streets. If true, it would clearly be an escalation       of the ongoing conflict - an escalation substantially worse than just       breaking into the Legislative Council building.              And as Joshua is calling his troopers to "persevere", he will actually       be "leading from behind" since there is a stay-away court order that       will keep him from potential battlegrounds. So, he will be physically       safe, while his troopers might face grave bodily harm.              And whatever Joshua is fighting for, it is for the benefit of atmost a       small minority. But I suspect that he is fighting not even for a       small minority of Hk'ers. Rather, he is fighting for a foreign power.       In other words, Joshua Wong is no revolutionary. I think he is a       sellout.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
