   Let's face it.  It might be a good thing if a future president does   
   propose to eliminates them, 'cause there will surely be a big debate   
   on the merits or demerits of that happening.  And maybe we'll learn   
   more than to assume that the DOE is always doing good.  Trump has   
   questioned why the DOE was making money with the student loans - a   
   huge problem in this year's presidential race.  Of course, it's far   
   from clear that Trump will get there.  And always remember that the   
   president himself can change very little of what has already been in   
   existence.
