Maybe sometimes it does take two flawed people to avoid a disaster
that nobody will know how to stop.

For now, the immediate threat of war over the Korean peninsula seems
to have been avoided --- and that's a good thing for everybody.

Frankly, avoiding a war has been the two Koreas' urgent concern in the
past year. And they did work together and made an opening for the
American president to climb out of the massive rhetorical trap that he
   put himself in.

The Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification of the
Korean Peninsula signed by Kim Jong-nn and Moon Jae-in can be seen as
such an opening. And the US-DPRK agreement that was signed yesterday
   did make reference to it.

If the darkside logic had been allowed to run its course, it would
certainly mean a great deal of uncalled-for bloodshed and instability
over the Korean peninsula, if not over a wider part of the Far East
   Asia.

And such a tragedy would certainly doom Trump's legacy and stain his
name forever, something he doesn't need. And it would do a great deal
more damage to our country than Bush-Obama's war on terror has done so
   far.

It was a way out of a war that Trump was smart enough to have taken.

It reminds me of Obama taking the life line from Putin over Syria in
   2013.

No smart president would want to follow G W Bush's ugly footsteps.

But it is not over for the Koreans. They need to continue to work
hard to achieve their cherished Panmunjom goal of peace, prosperity,
   and reunification.
