|    Pakistan far from Jinnah's vision for a     |

From: mantralectric@gmail.com              Recent meeting of Pakistani Prime minister and President Trump brings up the       1947 contact with the U.S. secretary of state George Marshall.               Deviation from the vision of its founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah has disturbed the       peace and prosperity of south Asia. Since the partition of British India in       1947, Pakistan has nationalized Islam and stagnated in its political and       economic development.        Islamic holy war against humanity is the underlying cause of unending social       conflict and violence. Until freedom of religion becomes the law of the land       there cab be no real lasting progress. The higher vision of Mr. Jinnah must       not be forgotten.               Exurb from Mr. Jinnah's 1947 address to the newly formed government of       Pakistan:               Therefore, we must learn a lesson from this. You are free; you are free to go       to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place or       worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or       creed that has        nothing to do with the business of the State. As you know, history shows that       in England, conditions, some time ago, were much worse than those prevailing       in India today. The Roman Catholics and the Protestants persecuted each other.       Even now there are        some States in existence where there are discriminations made and bars imposed       against a particular class. Thank God, we are not starting in those days. We       are starting in the days where there is no discrimination, no distinction       between one community        and another, no discrimination between one caste or creed and another. We are       starting with this fundamental principle that we are all citizens and equal       citizens of one State.               http://www.pakistani.org/pakistan/legislation/constituent_addres       _11aug1947.html              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
