   The reason given at the time was that if U.S.A./U.S.S.R. and Europe were   
   taken out, Australia, being resource rich as it was/is, would be bound   
   to become a World power, so it would have been taken out do give the   
   leftover U.S.A./U.S.S.R. and Europe a bit of a chance to rise from the dust!
