The statement has already been made that you are not very smart, which you
   did not refute.

American movies are distributed worldwide whereas French movies are not.
Most people don't want to watch French movies so there is not much purpose
to distributing them outside of France and Belgium. Occasionally, the French
might be able to pick up a few Euros in Germany or Italy, etc.

Americans have more disposable income so if they want to go to a
   movie/restaurant, it's all very routine.
Euros have lots of time off because most of them are unemployed. Maybe they
can sit on the steps in the piazza but they probably don't have enough cash
for the cinema. That's assuming that there would be a movie worth watching.
Like the old Soviet movie industry, the French just put out any old junk
because they don't pay for it and don't have to worry if nobody comes to
   watch.
