   CUBA
PRISON CONDITIONS OF CUBAN PRISONER OF CONSCIENCE,
   DR. OSCAR ELIAS BISCET, WORSEN
   November 2005

The Director of Combinado del Este Prison in Havana, Lieutenant Colonel
Miguel Azcuy, informed family members of prisoner of conscience, Dr. Oscar
Elías Biscet, that Dr. Biscet is currently in "Maximum Severity System:
Phase 1" and that as long as he refuses to put on the uniform of common
prisoner, he will not receive any privileges and that his situation in
   prison could get even worse.

I wonder, what happens in US prisons if a convict refuses to wear the
standard prison garb? Do they just let wear what they want? It seems
unlikely that so many would opt for orange jumpsuits. Or black and white
   stripes.
