It would seem that Airbus has invested in another Concorde. True to
Europeanisms, they have invested in an idea that is seemingly lacking in
commercial viability. When governments subsidize, there is no need to worry
about the product. In the case of the A380, if it doesn't recoup its
development costs, Europe will pay the bill.

The A380 has been on the market for a while and they have sold about 130
aircraft. Boeing has been offering the 787 for a considerably shorter time
and has already far outsold the Airbust, 198 just in 2005.

It seems Boeing's perceptions of the business needs of their customers is
far more accurate than the Europeans.
