XPost: soc.culture.russian, soc.culture.german, soc.culture.europe       From: TheFirstAmerican@iwuzherefirst.org              So Airbust has "postponed" the A380 freighter version officially. The       curious thing here is Airbust, according to one report, did not notify UPS       of the postponement. That was not very nice.              The other interesting part is that Airbust will reportedly not even move       ahead with certification.              UPS will not get their A380s until at least 2012.              It seems though that the writing is on the wall. I think the freighter       version is basically dead. Airbust could relaunch the product in 5 years or       so...after all the bugs get worked out of the A380 passenger version.              The only other possibility is that Airbust is fantasizing about getting new       orders.              I think UPS basically has to go to Boeing now...and cancel the Airbust       order. Otherwise they will lose market share to Fedex. Boeing is in the       driver's seat on pricing now. Even so, if UPS orders Boeings, they would all       be delivered before they would have gotten the first A380. Boeing does have       capacity to build more 777s and 747s.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
