The brass are NOT to be blamed. Very       > two-faced attitude.              Very good point.              What surprises and disgusts me is that some enlisted soldiers are being       criminally charged but no officers are (to my knowledge, anyway).              Officers, whether present or not, are responsible for these prisoners       and for the enlisted guards who guard them. If that means some company       grade officer has to get out of bed a few times a week at 02:30 or       whatever to check up on the prisoners and the enlisted personnel, then       so be it ... and if some field grade officers should be checking up on       the company grade officers, then so be it. And up the chain. But it       appears that the officer corps is getting off without a hitch... and       that is not right at all. They have neglected their duty and they are       pinning the blame on the enlisted men and women.              There is, to be fair, some indication of a conflict between the 'police'       element of the Army and the Intelligence community and the expected       misfires and screwups ... but it basicaly looks like someone in the       intelligence community had too big a stick and the MP's were too afraid       to buck and complain.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
