   Actually, Hitler was most likely NOT part Jewish.  The identity of his   
   paternal grandfather was in question.  His father's mother was working as a   
   maid in a Jewish household when she became pregnant.  There was the usual   
   speculation and gossip -- was the head of the household the father of the   
   baby, or was it her non-Jewish boyfriend?  Well, we'll never know, but it   
   most likely was her boyfriend.  That gave rise to the rumor that Hitler was   
   part Jewish.  There is no proof that he was.  However, it is interesting to   
   note that his laws labelled someone as Jewish IF that person had one Jewish   
   grandparent.  That sort of mirrors that big question mark in his life -- he   
   never did know who his grandfather really was.
