Well, there is no set criteria under the law for schizophrenia diagnoses to
be made. It is a diagnosis that can be given by a psychiatrist to anyone for
any reason, or for no reason. Under American law, a psychiatrist can
diagnose any person in a mental health facility with schizophrenia. Often
this is downgraded to manic depression, then to simple depression as the
person recovers and is able to go home. Lithium carbonate is proven to be
the most effective drug in helping people recover.

Schizophrenia is supposed to be a more serious form of manic depression. All
of these conditions involve extreme sleep loss, where the person went 3 or 4
days straight with no sleep. Schizophrenia, however, also means the person
went without food for many days straight, while manic depression means the
person was eating, but just went without sleep for 3 or 4 days straight.

Schizophrenia is a diagnosis given to practically anyone for very few
reasons. Under American law, no evidence is required for a person to be
diagnosed with schizophrenia. No medical tests are required for the
schizophrenia diagnosis, nor for any psychiatric diagnoses to be made. Under
American law, there is no behavior a person must first engage in to be
diagnosed with schizophrenia, nor must the person say anything crazy or
"nutty" that doesn't make sense. Psychiatric diagnoses have absolutely
nothing with crime or with breaking the law. In fact, statistics show a
person suffering from a mental illness (meaning the person has gone 3 or 4
days straight without sleep) is less likely to break the law than the
   average citizen.

Most psychiatric diagnoses in use today are ambiguous, poorly defined and do
not require any criteria in order to be made, which is why they have no
meaning anymore. Some psychiatrists avoid making the schizophrenia diagnosis
because it can be confusing. When they do, they usually downgrade it to
manic depression when the person stabilizes. Lithium carbonate is shown to
be the best effective drug to use to help stabilize a person who has gone 3
or 4 days straight with no sleep (manic depression or schizophrenia). The
so-called schizophrenia drugs like Haladol are proven to show very poor
results, which is why more families are asking the psychiatrist who treats
their family member to prescribe Lithium carbonate. If the psychiatrist
disagrees, the family says they don't want that psychiatrist anymore to
treat their relative, and they get a new psychiatrist who will prescribe
lithium carbonate. The American psychiatry field is a very broad field with
many different theories and suggested methods for treating extreme sleep
loss, which they call mental illness.

It's also important to remember that by law, all mental illnesses are
considered temporary. For example, if a person spent a few weeks in a mental
health facility many years ago and received a manic depression diagnosis,
the government doesn't accept that diagnosis as a current diagnosis should
that person file for disability or social security payments. Rather, the
government will set up an appointment for that person to see their own
psychiatrist who will make a diagnosis and decision as to whether that
person is disabled and should receive disability payments. Most psychiatry
practices in America are privately owned and privately run, with no rules
set down by the American government. However, when a person files for
disability and claims some mental illness, the government requires that
person to see a psychiatrist that is government run, and these psychiatrists
usually say the person has no mental illness and has only minor problems.

Soon, new psychiatric diagnoses that are more clearly defined, which require
factual evidence in order to be made, will come into use. These new
diagnoses will be less confusing and they will replace the old ambiguous
diagnoses in use today. This is because the old diagnoses have no meaning
