      From: not.jim.silverton@verizon.net              The rules for lenition (sound change) in Gaelic can be very tricky. For       example, the name Mhairi in the vocative (Oh! Mary some think) would be       "Very", which can cause problems especially if a pedantic school teacher       says "Heigh there Very Smellie!"
