   No _positive_ effect. Posting replies _here_ has a _negative_ effect:   
   (a) it increases the general off-topic level, thus irritating lots of   
   us, (b) it makes those of us who don't see the original posts (either   
   because we have effective kill-rules or we use a server with good spam   
   filters) aware of them, and again irritating us. As john@.fr has pointed   
   out, even posting replies direct to the posters - even if they get to   
   them - is inadvisable, as it confirms they are reaching someone.   
      
   So DON'T REPLY - by post OR email. Set a kill rule (I think keying on   
   "girls" or "horny" will get most of them without too many false   
   positives here), and/or switch to a server that stops you seeing them.
