   I see nothing wrong with responding to old posts.   
      
   The trouble with people doing so from GoogleGroups is that they have   
   crippled their editor so that it doesn't do proper reply quoting and   
   it doesn't wrap long lines.   
      
   Thgus if someone replies to an old message from GoogleGroups, with no   
   quote from the original message, on often has no idea what they are   
   replying to, and there is incomplete information.
