Changing your address did not       > normally change your ID number; the 1939 address was the anchor point       > as with my mother whose card had 3 addresses in two different       > countries.              My pa in law (and thousands of other children) had already been       evacuated when the register was complied. He was not included at his       home address with his parents, but was recorded (and his ration card       issued) at his evacuation address. From what he told me, when he       returned home, within about 6 months, his Mum had to have his card       amended with his now new address. Ditto for my mother who had also been       evacuated, that makes it difficult to try to find a lot of children in       the register - I don't know if they have changed the system but       certainly when it was first released you had to specify which record       you wanted released with the death cert as proof. Unless you happened       to know exactly where they were evacuated to or were living for any       other reason when registration was done that was almost impossible.       --       Tickettyboo              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
