The Fletchers were a significant 'clan' in West Cumberland - not the only
Fletchers there but widespread around Cockermouth. I've written a little about
the early ones of Mockerkin (a few miles from Cockermouth) here:

   http://rumbutter.info/gen-cumb-cd-fam-mockerkin/fletcher-of-mockerkin

There's plenty on the web, much of it well researched.

Lancelot was a common name in the area, possibly because two early Lancelot
Fletchers were vicars of Dean and Lamplugh.

The use of a surname as a forename was common in the area, at least among the
   more prosperous.
