I was stunned by the pig's ear some experts have made by       mixing-up my ancestors. Leaving that aside, I want to delve into the de       Blaquiere family in the 1800s        before the baronetcy title became extinct in 1920. My great-grandfather       Ferdinand William Plunkett Keon married The Hon Maria de Blaquiere in Dec 1847       in Dublin. I have nothing else for a Maria but plenty for a host of other       names (It may be a second        name she preferred to use) I believe her father was the 4th Baron (John) Does       anyone have knowledge of the family please?              Hello Vivienne       I can confirm that Maria de Blaquiere was the daughter of the 2nd Baron de       Blaquiere. John de Blaquiere 2nd Baron did not marry but had seven children       with a lady whose surname appears to be Nugent. Maria was the 6th child with       five elder brothers        namely John, George, Edmund, Henry and Alfred and one younger sister Anne.       Since her father did not marry their mother none of the children were eligible       to inherit a title which then passed to the 2nd Baron's younger brother and so       Maria is erroneously        referred to as the Honorable Maria de Blaquiere.        The 2nd Baron settled mortgages held on the land and houses including the       family seat" Portlemon" in Mullingar and estates in and around Londonderry and       was able to pass those to his children. Maria de Blaquiere's (Keon) grandson       John Joseph Treacy        would have been in line to inherit but circumstances changed and they passed       out of the family.       Our family is descended from an elder brother of Maria Keon (nee de Blaquiere)       I hope the information is of use and/or interest to you              Regards       Celia              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
