   I think Grantown was a planned town.   
      
   Some time ago I went to a talk about 'turf houses'.  Most of Grantown   
   was turf houses but the Duke of Gordon ordered them all to be replaced   
   by the granite buildings that you see now.   
      
   People liked turf houses, they were warm!  We were told that Lord Lovat   
   had one and only used his official residence when entertaining important   
   visitors.
