The fact is that Scientologists cause all kinds of suffering to the
families of those they attempt to steal away.

Scientology and its alter ego Dianetics did not always claim to
   be a religion.

Scientology had its earliest origins in the article entitled
Dianetics: The Evolution of a Science which L. Ron Hubbard
published in the May 1950 issue of ASTOUNDING SCIENCE
FICTION magazine. Dianetics was described in this article as
"an organized science of thought" which offered a therapeutic
technique for the treatment of "any and all inorganic mental
and organic psychosomatic ills, with assurance of complete
cure in unselected cases. "The science of Dianetics became
further developed in subsequent writings by Hubbard and
others. This development was solely scientific in nature, and
   religious aspects were not present.

Church of Scientology lawyers have sent threatening email
(and occasionally faxes and snail-mail) to numerous Netizens,
claiming that they were violating Church copyrights by posting
short excerpts (often as short as 6 lines) from the Church's
"secret scriptures". They've also sent private investigators to
harass Internet users and their families, obtained telephone
billing records under false pretenses, tried to get universities
to remove the Internet accounts of students and staff members,
published the True Name of a pseudonymous user, and
engaged in other forms of extra-legal harassment. These
activities have caused at least one Netizen to lose his job,
and another to "shudder into silence" after losing his
   university account.

It appears to me that the *Church* is harrassing individuals who
happen to disagree with it's beliefs and who publish this information.
I hope that they never succeed in silencing those who know the
   truth about this cult.
