   >Thanks for your most welcome defense! Okay, I'll post her name, since
   >the more I think about it, the more aghast I am at the apparent
   >injustice of it all (sounds melodramtic of me, I know, but there's a
   >principle here)...trying to get me kicked out of her class because I
   >had the audacity to correct her?? Again, quote: "...picking apart and
   >finding fault with the professor's lecture...is not, after all, your
   >function as a student...This is not, I'm afraid, the kind of behavior
   >expected of students in upperdivision Literature courses at Hunter
   >College (or at any college)." Excuse me, but whom does the professor
   >serve???

They serve the SCHOOL you uppity little motherfucker! LEARN YOUR FUCKING
PLACE. There's nothing worse than spoiled brat students who think they
know better than the faculty. And now you go bitch about it on the
internet and try to get people to hassle her. You don't even deserve an
   education.

   >(I had to excise parts of her paragraph for various reasons, but I
   >maintain that the point of her remarks is faithfully perserved.)
   >
   >Her name is Maureen Ruprecht Fadem, and she's an instructor (not quite
   >"professor", exactly, if I understand my CUNY Human Resources
   >categories correctly) in the English department at Hunter College.
   >She's a big-time liberal who, ironically, took the side of a student
   >who had demanded that his professor put black authors on his syllabus
   >(this is how she relates the tale, anyway), but who thinks *I'm* out
   >of line challenging her all-too-casual assertions on history.

Giving preference to negroes just cause of their skin colour. How
racist. If you want to give your opinion do it in a fucking essay but
don't talk back to someone who's smarter and more educated than you are.
No one's discriminating against you dumbass.

   >So, according to her, that student had a valid point in insisting that
   >his professor add a black author or two or three to the syllabus of
   >their American Lit. course...but it's not *my* "function as a student"
   >to "pick apart" her lecture by pointing out that she's wrong about the
   >Roman Empire and the Holy Roman Empire being one and the same, and
   >that she's wrong about Romans simply adopting Greeks divinities by
   >rechristening them with Roman names upon their Greek conquest....
   >
   >Not to digress (but I'll do it anways), but at least the
   >"conservatives" are more "honest", more "consistent", WRT their
   >politics.
