|    Re: Query on possibility of Spanish surn    |

Irish Spanish       My maternal grandparents are of Irish lineage.       My grandmother was very tall with thick wavy dark hair, deep chocolate brown       eyes and a very Balkan full cupid's bow mouth, very Yugoslavian looking.       My paternal grandparents were Russian Jews.       although I bear resemblance to both, far more Mediterranean in temperament and       choices. I absolutely cannot function without warm weather, fresh air and       sunlight. This has been the case since I was tiny.              As my grandmother married into a Jewish family, little or no info is available       of the Irish genealogy.              We've all read stories of the spanish Armada shipwrecks.       Then again Spain was ruled by the Moors, Arabs and Moroccans for 800 years.        The mosques have been converted to churches, but the architecture remains.              As a small child, an older Italian woman insisted on waiting for my mother to       arrive, as she believed I was her grandchild.              I have had this reaction all my life. I've had people from almost every       Mediterranean country insist that I was from their people, from Lebanon to       Greece, Spain and Italy.              If anyone is well versed in digging up this sort of family history, I would       really love to collaborate and appreciate the help.       email me at - rocksjhb at gmail com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
