   When Japan's rose in its economic power between the 70's and 80's, they knew   
   how to foresight their needs of people of heir future.   
      
   They focused on sharpening their people employment and to train them to be   
   disciplined with quality as their focus.   
      
   They spent with considerable time sharpening their product quality and   
   making farsighted research advances on production methodology and robotic   
   technology.   
      
   With their strong reserves from their past foreign exchanges they plowed   
   back a lot of money in the spending of building of warships and jetfighters.   
      
   They may not be able to match the Russian and American, though.

      That will help. Japan and the USA may be symbiotic at   
      this point ... but the USA has become completely dependent   
      on China - and thus might not be able to be as helpful as   
      Japan would want in a crisis. Cultivating India, S.Korea,   
      Vietnam and perhaps Australia would be wise.   
      
      The other half of the equation is Japans continuing economic   
      weakness. Wealth creates "friends" and strong alliances -   
      gives countries vested reasons to make sure Japan stays   
      healthy.
