From: jtem01@gmail.com              Oh, roughly 3 million years ago the Isthmus of       Panama was fully formed. Some claim it was there       even tens of millions of years earlier, but the       fact is that marine biologists and study both       sides and date when the flow between the two       oceans finally stopped around 3 million years ago.              Anyhow, the formation of the Isthmus of panama       changed the currents. It's the ocean currents       which primarily circulate the energy from the sun,       and when the Isthmus formed it created cold spots,       what we call "Glaciers." This in turn sparked the       Quaternary Period, which the earth is now in, which       is in effect an ice age. The planet is cycling       between lengthy periods of glaciation colloquially       known as "Ice Age" and much briefer warm periods       called "Interglacials."              The point is, the climate has been in a constant       state of change this last, oh, 2.6 million years       or more. It's easy to find evidence of these       changes, many of them do coincide with points in       human development, but the claim that humans       caused them rather than benefited (or even suffered)       from them is spurious at best... unscientific bunk.              Such studies use the present interglacial as a       model for the present interglacial. In other words,       they study the present interglacial and then use       THAT data to determine what this interglacial is       supposed to look like. Which is stupid. If you want       to know what an interglacial WITHOUT human agriculture       or industry looks like, look to the previous       interglacial... and the previous interglacial was       warmer.              Hmmm... if you compared this present interglacial with       the last one -- the one WITHOUT civilization, human       industry & agriculture -- the planet was warmer. One       might even conclude that humans are responsible for       COOLING the climate.              Now the opposite of science looks at an overall cool       interglacial, currently off peak from it's previous       high temperatures, and concludes it's hot. This is       known as "Stupidity."              Actually, it's all propaganda.              It's not an accident. Nobody sneezed and "Accidentally"       replaced a comparison with the last interglacial with       a comparison of this interglacial with itself.              "Lies are not random."                                                               -- --              http://jtem.tumblr.com/post/177878819853              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
