   It's way more complicated than that.   
      
   The south pole is only so cold because of the   
   currents. Prior to it breaking off of South   
   America and the formation of the circumpolar   
   current it was much warmer.   
      
   See, apart from the currents the only way to   
   heat up a continent is to increase the energy   
   from the sun. Which can happen. The sun goes   
   through cycles -- periods in which it produces   
   more or less energy. And to cool a continent   
   you need to either change the currents, which   
   is how the planet distributes energy from the   
   sun, or block the sun via a super volcano or
