From: jtem01@gmail.com              The industrial revolution transformed society.       This was abhorrent to Chinese morals. Farmers       were meant to remain farmers, not leave the       rural areas for population centers to become       factory workers. This wasn't an issue in the       United States because we had some social       mobility, but we also had immigration so we       could place large numbers inside of factories       without removing labor elsewhere in the       economy. Industrialization, at least in the       beginning, on a small scale, could co exist       and even flourish within the culture here,       allowing a more gradual transformation.              Admittedly, the transformation was rapid &       painful enough, despite a vastly more       adaptable culture....                                          -- --              http://jtem.tumblr.com/post/180091895583              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
