   I really know that, I have seen him.  Vlad is not short for Vladimir, it   
   is a Romanian name.  His wife probably called him Volodya.  This is the   
   same length as his real name, but that is quite common with Russian   
   diminutives.  As for the other guy, maybe his widow wouldn't allow it,   
   but that is only a guess.
