|    Roman Senate: Altar of Victory    |

From: jtem01@gmail.com              So forgive my ignorance on the topic -- I wouldn't       be asking if I knew -- but any word on the final       resting place of the Senate's "Altar of Victory"?              Yes it sounds exactly like the sort of thing that       would have been pillaged during the sack of any       city. And it also sounds like the sort of thing that       religious rivals might've wanted to melt down. But,       do we know?              I like to think that anything of religious importance       would have at least as good a chance of being       buried somewhere/hidden as melted destroyed by       competing religions. And the fact that this "Altar of       Victory" seems to have survived intact through       periods of disfavor/disuse does make me wonder       if it was spared from Christianity's metaphorical       axeman. But those pillaging invaders though? Hm.                                                 -- --              https://jtem.tumblr.com/post/184531315378              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
