From: jtem01@gmail.com              You may remember Joann Fletcher as the unlucky       Egyptologists who somehow triggered the famous       Hawass, king of Egyptian antiquities, angering him       so much that he honestly made a goddamn fool of       himself.              What happened was that she made a rather       uncontroversial identification of a mummy as       Nefertiti. Now, granted it wasn't the most popular       theory, and I know that I certainly had no use for it,       but it's important to remember that it was hardly       unique.              SHE WASN'T THE ORIGINATOR!              She wasn't the first much less the only person to       come to the same conclusion.              Anyhow, so Hawass went BALLISTIC! He broke his       own rule on DNA testing, just to prove her wrong,       literally doing it out of malice. AND he came out with       some genuinely kooky counter theories which, by       comparison, made Joan Fletcher's ideas seem mundane.              I believe he even banned her at the time!              Anyhow, she's back! Or, she has been back for some       time now, the King Slayer, and she has an entire series       on Egyptian history currently available FREE on Youtube.              Catch it while you can, because you know it's all going to       end up behind a paywall eventually...              And, for Christ's sake, DON'T PICK A FIGHT WITH HER!              The women is a survivor...                                   -- --              https://jtem.tumblr.com/post/654901912313921536              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
