It does make a difference. Each zone prepares their own iteration of the Nodelist due to a historic implementation of compiling per-zone to ease data processing on IBM XT's, PS/2, Tandy 1000, and other class of PC's where it was crucial to optimize for speed, storage and cost of dialup modem calls. All four of us ZC's share zone segments. A Sysop may not be able to compile a nodelist produced in one zone using the differentials from another. When one ZC does not send a segment to others in a timely manner, this affects the output of that zone-specific nodelist. Unfortunately when 3D addressing was introduced, there appeared to of been no efforts into producing these files named according to zone, which is why we have this generic "Nodelist/Nodediff" filename/echo name convention. Both of these problems were resolved with the introduction of the Dailies. Nick --- Renegade vY2Ka2 * Origin: Joey, do you like movies about gladiators? (1:229/426) |
