Z1_BACKBONE is the public facing echo where moderators request cartage or
removal of their echo(s) on/from the backbone stars as part of the backbone
traffic... when a cartage request is accepted, the area is then added to the
backbone.na file and the area is considered to be /on/ the backbone... when a
removal request is accepted, the area is moved to the backbone.no file and
eventually removed from the backbone completely... the area may still be
carried by backbone systems but since it is not in the backbone.na file, it is
considered as not being on the backbone... perhaps Z1_BACKBONE needs a name
change or a new echo created with this backbone now having star systems in
other zones... creating a new area would be the easiest... idk...

perhaps, though, Z1_BACKBONE is/was confused with Z1BACKBONE from the old Z1B
distribution system? Z1BACKBONE (without the underscore) is certainly dead and
gone since the Z1B dissolved...

this echo, STARS, is not public facing... only the backbone stars and others
specifically invited should have access... i don't recall a private echo for
any of the other backbones but that doesn't mean there wasn't one... i do
remember at least one backbone having discussions about its policies and
methods of operation... that's where the backstat and BOP (backbone
operations) files came from... they may have been from the old Z1B
distribution system and then copied to the NAB when rossC switched to being a
NAB star... or maybe they went the other way from john souvester's time in
fidonet? it has been a long road we've travelled...

FWIW: i like(d) seeing your routing table... while i had no comment about it,
it was informative and helpful in configuring (some of) my routing here...

these two i have listed in their own group with a few other Z1-Only areas...
currently my system has ~12 groups of fidonet echos... each group has an
access key and linked systems are only allowed access to echos based on those
keys... no key, no access... these keys are manually assigned and no systems
are automatically added to any echos of FDNs carried here... setting up new
links is a manual operation and then the link can use areafix/filefix at
will...

this one was never fully linked here... its existance and empty message area
files have been completely removed here...
