Hi, Ardith...
AH>Uh-huh. I remember the early days of this echo, when Dallas & I had
AH>only one computer between us. I don't type quickly... and many of our
AH>readers were dealing with complex problems. I couldn't just say the
AH>first thing which entered my head because they'd heard more than
AH>enough of that already. Dallas would remind me that others might
AH>want to use the BBS, and I'd remind him that since we were paying
AH>the bills I felt we should have first dibs on it.... ;-)
Rank has its privileges.
AH>I can relate. You've burned a lot of calories & your stomach thinks
AH>your throat has been cut. I feel the same way after a two-hour band
AH>rehearsal plus an hour of hauling a whole bunch of equipment,
AH>setting it up, and putting it away again. I understand that your
AH>body wants the instant gratification of carbohydrate... but a
AH>banana sundae is more than my body can handle. What I'd prefer is
AH>something like a home-made omelet, with bean sprouts & whatever else
AH>is available. If I'm not too tired I'll cook it upon our return.
AH>OTOH if the extrovert-in-residence from the trombone section
AH>suggests we go to a local pub where other folks will bring food &
AH>drink to our table I'm interested.... :-)
On ham radio (another one of my hobbies), you start talking about food
on the air, and folks come out of the woodwork.
Snack wise, I found some Little Debbie Brand Banana Pudding Cream
Rolls at the local Kroger yesterday, and they are delicious. I think I
ate a whole box in one day. But, I need something to satisfy the sweet
tooth, and to me, a meal isn't a meal without dessert.
AH>That *is* sad. One of the problems many older folks seem to have is
AH>is that they eat as they did when they were more physically active.
AH>I imagine it may also be more of a challenge for you to remain
AH>active, with fewer clubs.
Most of the clubs have folded, because while square dancing is a
hobby, and should never take precedence over ones church, job, family,
or health...for the ones that are still active, it seems that no one
wants to do the work behind the scenes. They think everything will just
happen by itself...and the same goes for the ham radio hobby that I'm
involved with.
Daryl
