Hello, Richard. Saturday April 02 2011 at 11:32, you wrote to me: RW> knowledgeable too. I'm betting you're TVA over that way, so they've RW> got expertise on staff. I'm expecting to see this guy within next RW> couple weeks. Thankfully, the power board here is very responsive to complaints from hams around here. They really do try to keep us happy. I'll call on Monday, speak to dispatch, give them the pole numbers and will hopefully get a call from the linemen that respond. It's the lightning arresters on top of the poles that might be causing the grounds to be radiating. I'm the one that's been lazy and not made the call. Thankfully, I do have fellow hams that are well-known at the power board and they will help if need be. But I need to initate the contact. Right now, though, I am studying my dad's copy of the 2009 Handbook to try to find a good way to eliminate AC noise coming through my power supply. I have a very nice Radio Shack 25A switching power supply but unfortunately the ancient wiring in this house (ungrounded 2-wire aluminum) just picks up noise like you wouldn't believe. I hear a "rushing" sound all over every band when I use it, but since my battery can't supply enough amps to keep my radio at "full" power, I generally only get out at around 50-70 watts depending on the battery's charge.
